Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for Med Surg Telemetry patients, including assessment, planning, and execution of individualized care plans.
- Monitor patient status continuously, interpret telemetry, recognize rhythm changes, and respond to alarms and acute events.
- Administer medications and IV therapies, document responses, and ensure safe, accurate medication administration.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary staff; document in the electronic health record and communicate changes promptly.
- Support patient flow through admissions, transfers, and discharges; assist with patient and family education regarding care plans.
- Maintain clinical quality and safety standards, including infection control, patient safety practices, and compliance with unit guidelines.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts (or eligible for licensure)
- Minimum 2 years Med Surg Telemetry experience in a hospital setting
- Ability to complete Telemetry Competency Exam with at least 85% on the first attempt (no remediation); onboarding testing includes dysrhythmia and medication assessments conducted prior to assignment, with testing within 48 hours of offer
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association)
- Education: Nursing degree from an approved program (RN credential required)
- Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg Telemetry environment; strong critical thinking and communication skills
- No local residency requirement (but must reside more than 50 miles from the facility per assignment rules)
