Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care as a circulating and scrub RN across multiple general and specialty OR cases
- Scrub for general OR, GU, GYN, ENT, eyes, plastics, lap, trauma, thoracic, and vascular procedures; strong in OR but excluding CVOR cases
- Circulate and scrub with a focus on sterile technique, patient safety, counts, and instrument handling
- Assist the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and anesthesia assistants, to optimize patient flow and throughput
- Prepare patients and rooms, manage positioning, draping, and equipment setup; monitor patient status pre-, intra-, and post-operatively
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and ensure timely communication of intraoperative events
- Participate in on-call coverage: one weekday call per week and one 24-hour call in each four-week schedule block
- Coordinate with unit leadership to meet unit and patient-care needs; be flexible with schedule to support the team
Requirements
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience
- Experience in a large (500+ beds) Level I trauma setting
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Circulate and scrub capability across a broad range of specialties; able to scrub all general OR, GU, GYN, ENT, eyes, plastics, lap, trauma, thoracic, and vascular; scrub capability for CVOR is not required
- Circulator and scrub skills checklists included in the assignment packet
- BLS certification
- Strong OR scrub/ Circulating skills and adaptability to rotating day/evening shifts
- Reliable transportation and flexibility with schedule; able to meet unit and patient-care needs
