Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the surgeon and perioperative team to perform operative care as the RN First Assistant, ensuring safe procedures and optimal patient outcomes.
- Practice perioperative nursing with RNFA duties, including scrubbing and circulating as assigned; maintain sterile technique and patient safety throughout the operative phase.
- Participate in robotic-assisted surgeries using DaVinci systems; ensure instrument readiness, patient positioning, and coordination with the surgical team.
- When not in an RNFA role, perform duties of an OR staff RN as directed to support the surgical schedule.
- Maintain licensure and credentialing requirements (NY RN license, CNOR, RNFA course completion) and participate in ongoing credentialing as needed.
- Schedule typically Monday–Friday days with on-call responsibilities per unit need (until 11:00 pm); no weekends or holidays unless required by unit need.
Requirements
- Current NY Registered Nurse license (RN)
- CNOR certification required
- Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant course
- DaVinci robotics experience required (Robotic Urology, Robotic GYN, Robotic Colorectal, Robotic Surgical Oncology, Robotic Thoracic, or Robotic general surgery)
- Two (2) years of OR experience; level 1 trauma experience preferred
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to work in a hospital OR setting and participate in a travel assignment
