Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in the ICU/CVU, including assessment, intervention, and monitoring.
- Manage ventilator support and weaning, including high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilator adjustments.
- Assist with percutaneous tracheostomy care and bronchoscopy-related procedures; perform airway clearance and suctioning as indicated.
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and participate in decisions regarding ventilator weaning and patient readiness.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members; participate in rounds and handoffs; ensure accurate Epic documentation.
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards; respond to respiratory emergencies and provide appropriate therapies.
Requirements
- Licensure: Active Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri (or compact license); pending state licenses accepted per location rules; MO may submit without license (requires MO or compact); IL license in hand required at time of submittal; compact licenses must match permanent residence.
- Certifications: RRT, ACLS, BLS (BCLS noted)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years RT experience; first-time travelers accepted; previous charge experience preferred; travel experience not required
- Additional requirements: Ability to work in ICU-level care settings with adult and geriatric populations; on-call required; RTO restrictions apply (max 7 days; no RTO first week)
