Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to neonates in the NICU, including monitoring vital signs, respiratory status, and overall stability.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, and manage IV lines and infusion therapies per NICU protocols.
- Assist with NICU procedures and respond to emergencies according to neonatal resuscitation and care guidelines.
- Document care and assessments in the medical record; participate in rounds and care planning with the multidisciplinary team.
- Educate and support families, provide discharge planning input, and advocate for infant safety and infection control throughout shifts.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other specialists to implement individualized care plans.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RECENT NICU nursing experience
- Current AHA BLS certification; NRP certification required
- Ability to work a night shift schedule (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and a 12x3 rotation
- Availability to work two major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day) and one minor holiday (e.g., the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve)
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a high-acuity NICU environment
