Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing procedures, following established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Monitor patient status across pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases; administer medications as ordered and maintain sterile technique and environment.
- Supervise and direct activities of nursing staff at varying levels during cases, and coordinate care with anesthesia, surgeons, and other disciplines.
- Utilize critical thinking, professional judgment, and independent discretion to ensure patient safety, comfort, and high-quality outcomes.
- Document care, routines, and patient responses accurately; communicate clearly with the care team and families as appropriate.
- Respond promptly to intraoperative changes or emergencies and participate in post-operative care planning and rehabilitation planning as needed.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Perioperative or operating room nursing experience preferred
- ADN or BSN degree in Nursing
- Ability to work in a hospital operating room setting and participate in a rotating/varied shift schedule
