Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ICU patients, including ongoing assessment of clinical status and response to interventions.
- Monitor hemodynamics, tubes and lines, medications, and ventilator support as clinically indicated.
- Recognize and respond to acute changes in patient condition; activate rapid response or code protocols as needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement orders, adjust care plans, and document patient progress in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families; ensure patient safety, privacy, and dignity across adult and geriatric populations on the unit.
Requirements
- Active NYS registered professional nurse license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certified through the RQI system during clinical orientation
- NIHSS certification required
- CPI certification within 90 days of hire
- Basic Coronary Care certification within 6 months of hire
- Demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate care and to work effectively in a fast-paced ICU environment; strong teamwork and communication skills; basic computer literacy
- Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.)
