Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including evaluation, monitoring, and documentation.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, observe for adverse effects, and communicate changes to the care team.
- Monitor patient status and telemetry data; respond promptly to alarms and patient needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, unit leadership, and ancillary staff to implement and adjust patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely charting in the electronic health record; ensure smooth handoffs during transitions between shifts.
- Support safe patient flow, discharge planning, and patient education as appropriate.
Requirements
- Expected: Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active licensure as a Registered Nurse in Kansas or eligible for licensure in Kansas.
- Night shift availability: able to work 7 pm–7 am.
- Med-surg telemetry experience preferred, or relevant clinical nursing background.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain per standard guidelines.
- Strong communication, assessment, and critical-thinking skills; capable of working in a hospital setting.
