Responsibilities
- Provide postoperative care in the PACU, including monitoring vitals, oxygenation, pain control, and recovery progression
-Assess patient status continuously and respond promptly to changes in condition; activate rapid response when needed
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders, adhering to established protocols and safety standards
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, including recovery milestones and discharge planning notes
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and nursing colleagues to support safe, efficient patient recovery and timely disposition
- Educate patients and families on post-anesthesia instructions, recovery expectations, and warning signs requiring further care
- Uphold infection control, patient safety, and quality-of-care standards across the PACU environment
Requirements
- Current, active Registered Nurse license in Georgia
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU or post-surgical nursing experience
- AHA BLS required; ACLS certification required
- Ability to work effectively in a hospital PACU setting and to collaborate with the surgical team
- Commitment to compliance with facility credentialing and hospital policies
