Responsibilities
- Conduct triage and initial patient assessment, establish urgency, and assign care priority using standardized triage principles.
- Perform primary and secondary assessments, deliver direct care, initiate appropriate interventions, and monitor patient progress.
- Utilize invasive and non-invasive procedures and treatments appropriate to emergency care, including life-saving interventions when needed.
- Apply relationship-based, patient- and family-centered care to reduce anxiety, address pain, explain procedures, and ensure safety.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, delegate tasks within scope, document care plans, and provide clear handoffs; educate patients and families for discharge and home care.
- Assess psychosocial needs across age groups, document concerns, and refer for post-emergency resources as appropriate.
Requirements
- Valid and current New York RN license
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (Must be AHA or RQI)
- Two years of acute hospital RN experience, with at least one year in an ED environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED setting and provide care across all age groups
