Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for ambulatory care patients across the lifespan.
- Coordinate with physicians, mid-level providers, and other health professionals to ensure safe, evidence-based, cost-effective care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer medications, interpret routine diagnostic tests, perform basic procedures as appropriate, and provide patient and family education; document actions accurately.
- Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in all care delivery; maintain clinical competency and professional standards.
- Support and collaborate with unit staff, including supervision of secretaries and patient care technicians in partnership with the Charge Nurse when required.
- Maintain proficient use of clinical equipment, including basic EKG skills, and adhere to guidelines for nursing practice in the ambulatory setting.
Requirements
- Alaska license: Current, active Registered Professional Nurse license in good standing
- Education: Graduation from an NLN-approved nursing program
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience: Preferred one year of healthcare experience as an RN; not required
- Vaccination: Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination required
- Competencies: Ability to practice per Alaska RN standards; strong communication, documentation, and critical-thinking skills; ability to work independently within established guidelines
- Work setting: Ability to perform in an ambulatory care environment and collaborate with the care team
