Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adolescent inpatients with behavioral health needs, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patient status, vital signs, and response to treatment; administer medications per orders and document accordingly.
- Maintain patient safety and de-escalation using CPI crisis intervention techniques as required.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team; participate in treatment planning and rounds.
- Document thoroughly in the medical record; communicate changes in patient condition to the care team; participate in family education and discharge planning as appropriate.
- Respond to emergencies on the unit and implement approved protocols for crisis situations.
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- Minimum 5 years of psychiatric/behavioral health nursing experience; minimum 2 years of travel experience
- Travel experience with renewals preferred; prior staff experience in this assignment is not eligible for travel consideration
- Ability to work in an inpatient adolescent behavioral health setting and participate in a 3x12-hour shift schedule (0700–1930)
Education
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State (no additional degree specifics provided)
