Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and deliver nursing care to Telemetry patients within the Med Surg/Telemetry unit.
- Administer prescribed medications, including cardiac drips, and monitor patient responses; escalate per policy.
- Read and interpret cardiac monitors; respond to rhythm changes and hemodynamic shifts; provide timely interventions.
- Provide postoperative and general medical-surgical nursing care, including wound care, pain management, and patient education.
- Maintain professional nursing standards and policies; supervise CNA/SNA or other health care workers as assigned.
- Document accurately in the medical record; communicate with interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license required at time of submission.
- 4 years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience – Required.
- Experience with reading monitors, cardiac drips, and post-surgical cases – Required.
- Experience with adult and geriatric patients – Required.
- BLS/CPR (AHA), NIHSS, ACLS – Required.
- Current documentation of Staffing Agency's IL Nurse Agency Certificate (copy to be included in traveler submission) – Required.
- Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated – Required.
- Ability to work nights in a 3x12 schedule; able to function in a Med Surg/Telemetry setting.
