Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for neonates and an assigned patient group according to established standards and the nursing process.
- Supervise and direct activities of various nursing staff levels, coordinating care with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other disciplines.
- Monitor neonates with lifethreatening conditions, applying critical thinking and independent judgment to interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments per orders, manage lines and tubes, and ensure infection control and patient safety.
- Communicate with families, provide education and support to parents of critically ill neonates, and document care accurately.
- Participate in rounds, care planning, and quality improvement activities to optimize outcomes in a high-acuity NICU setting.
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (state of assignment)
- NICU or neonatal care experience preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a high-acuity NICU setting
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
- Eligible for travel assignments and able to comply with travel credentialing requirements
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate family-centered care in a neonatal unit
