Responsibilities
- Perform and process nuclear medicine procedures (including radiopharmaceutical administration) according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment (GE systems) with emphasis on quality control and patient safety.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals via venipuncture and ensure correct patient identification, dosing, and documentation.
- Prepare, label, and track radiopharmaceuticals; monitor and respond to patient responses; apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
- Document findings and clinical data in the EPIC EMR; correlate results with orders and communicate results to interpreting physicians; coordinate with the PACS for image storage and retrieval (McKesson PACS).
- Provide patient care and support throughout procedures, including step-by-step explanation, comfort measures, and post-procedure instructions.
Requirements
- Current New York State license as Radiologic Technologist (Nuclear Medicine) or equivalent
- ARRT (N) or NMTCB/CNMTB certification (required)
- New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate (required for staffing in NY)
- Minimum 1 year of nuclear medicine experience; CT experience considered a plus
- Venipuncture experience and ability to handle injections; BLS certification (AHA)
- Proficiency with GE nuclear medicine equipment; EPIC EMR and McKesson PACS experience required
- Own reliable vehicle and ability to travel to assignment; prior travel experience preferred
- No blocking scheduling; ability to work days in a hospital travel setting
