Role Specifics and Benefits: In this PCU role, you’ll assess and monitor patients with stable to intermediate acuity, often transitioning from the ICU or step-down units, and prepare them for discharge or escalation as needed. Key responsibilities include continuous telemetry observation, frequent neurovascular checks, IV therapy administration, medication management, wound and ostomy care as applicable, and proactive patient education focused on recovery plans, activity, and self-care after discharge. You’ll collaborate closely with physicians, charge nurses, case management, and families to implement individualized care plans, document accurately, and participate in daily huddles that optimize patient flow and safety. You’ll mentor junior staff and participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, reinforcing evidence-based practices and patient-centered communication.
