Responsibilities
- Circulate for cardiovascular/open heart procedures and assist as needed in OR when scrub duties are required
- Maintain sterile technique, manage instrument counts, and ensure equipment readiness for complex cases
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and scrub staff; document intraoperative events and post-case needs in the EMR
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and monitoring; respond promptly to intraoperative changes and requests
- If floated to other OR suites (General, Orthopedic, Neuro, ENT, etc.), circulate rather than scrub, and maintain high standards of patient safety and turnover
- Uphold unit safety, infection control practices, and contribute to a positive, teamwork-based environment
Requirements
- Active RN license (state not specified in notes; eligibility or current licensure to practice as an RN)
- BLS certification required
- CNOR certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience with recent CardioVascular/Open Heart competency
- Scrub Heart procedures experience required; Epic EMR experience within past 2 years required
- Prior travel experience required; ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule and be flexible with on-call requirements
