Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for orthopedic surgical patients across the perioperative and postoperative continuum.
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, manage pain, perform neurovascular checks, and document changes in patient condition.
- Support preoperative screening, discharge planning, patient and family education, and care coordination with the surgical team, anesthesia, and physical therapy.
- Assist with OR scheduling and independent case management as needed, ensuring patient safety and equipment readiness for ortho procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to optimize recovery and mobilization plans; maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in weekend rotation and on-call duties; arrive within 30 minutes of call and be prepared to support late cases as needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Pennsylvania.
- 1 year of acute care nursing experience; orthopedic or surgical unit experience preferred.
- BLS certification.
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
- Ability to work in a hospital setting and participate in a weekend on-call rotation.
- Must arrive within 30 minutes of receiving a call.
