Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care and triage for patients in a home hospice context; respond to acute symptoms and emergencies.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, wound care, and other nursing interventions per physician orders.
- Monitor vitals, assess pain and comfort, and implement appropriate palliative care plans.
- Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team and coordinate with emergency services as needed.
- Document care in the electronic health record; ensure accurate, timely reporting and continuity of care.
- Uphold infection control, safety standards, and patient/family education throughout the shift.
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (or eligibility to practice in the state)
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- ER/acute care experience required; minimum 1 year
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher (BSN preferred)
- Ability to work nights and participate in a travel assignment; ability to work effectively in a home hospice setting
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient/family education skills
