Registered Nurse – Pre-Admission Services (PAS), OR specialty, Hermiston, Oregon, United States. This travel assignment begins 06/29/2026 for a 12-week duration with guaranteed 40 hours per week on a 5x8 Day shift. You will work in a critical access hospital setting. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments via telephone and in-person visits to evaluate readiness for surgery and anesthesia.
- Review medical history, current medications, allergies, and prior anesthesia experiences; identify risks using evidence-based screening tools and protocols.
- Coordinate pre-operative testing, consultations, and medical clearances; document assessments and manage orders/results in the electronic health record.
- Provide patient education tailored to individual needs about pre-operative preparation, anesthesia options, and post-operative expectations; address questions and anxieties.
- Communicate assessment findings and recommendations clearly to anesthesia providers, surgeons, and the perioperative care team; participate in multidisciplinary planning and care coordination.
- Maintain patient advocacy and safety, ensure infection control practices, HIPAA compliance, and clinical documentation accuracy; triage inquiries and manage InBasket messages as appropriate.
Requirements
- Licenses: Current, unrestricted registered nurse licenses in Oregon and Washington.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CRASE training required (if travel extends beyond 6 months, CRASE training will be required); PALS recommended.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; prior surgical experience and Epic electronic health record experience strongly preferred; ability to work with a culturally diverse patient population.
- Skills: Strong assessment and critical thinking abilities; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively within the perioperative team; proficient in patient education and discharge planning.
