Responsibilities
- Provide direct professional nursing care to patients of all ages in the ER, including initial assessment, triage, ongoing monitoring, and documentation.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies; monitor responses and report adverse events; participate in emergency procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and the health care team to develop, implement and adjust patient care plans; document care plans and nursing notes accurately.
- Monitor vital signs, interpret diagnostic results, respond to acute changes in patient conditions, and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Supervise and coordinate workload for CNAs/Techs; ensure safe patient care, accurate handoffs, and discharge planning; educate patients and families.
- Uphold infection control, patient safety, privacy, and compliance with standards; participate in ongoing professional practice and quality improvement activities.

Requirements
- Current, active Alaska RN license (must be valid at time of submission)
- BLS and PALS required upon hire; ACLS obtained within 6 months of hire
- Certifications: ACLS, PALS, TNCC/ATCN, and NRP as applicable to specialty area; must be current and maintained within first 6 months and bi-annually thereafter
- Minimum one year of clinical nurse experience; ER experience preferred
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program with eligibility for Alaska RN licensure
- Must have or obtain flu-like vaccination (flu vaccination) prior to or at start
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ER environment; ability to work nights and adapt to shift demands
- Must meet SEARHC traveler policy: reside 50+ miles from assignment site
