This ER/ED nursing role is in an acute care setting with a combined adult and pediatric program and a separate psych area. The unit operates on a 38-bed ED with an average of about 127 visits per day and provides interdisciplinary support including Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, Interpretation, and Unit Secretary. The charting system is Epic and nurses wear navy scrubs.

Responsibilities
- Provide professional RN care to ED patients across neonate to geriatric populations with rapid assessment and triage.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, dysrhythmias, and laboratory data; initiate IV access and administer medications as ordered.
- Manage airway care, ventilator support as needed, and assist with procedural sedation when applicable.
- Participate in trauma, stroke, STEMI, and multisystem injury care; collaborate with Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Interpretation teams.
- Perform comprehensive patient and family education, discharge planning, and coordination of transfers as appropriate.
- Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record (Epic) and maintain accurate charting per unit policy; adhere to patient safety standards and hospital policies.
- Maintain patient ratios (1:4) and respond to emergencies, while adhering to role-specific competencies and escalation procedures.
- May be required to float within the service line; follow unit guidance and supervisor direction.
Requirements
- Licensure: Pending license accepted for submission. MO license may be submitted without license for this assignment; IL license in hand required if applicable (compliance specifics apply).
- Certifications: ACLS, BCLS (CPR), NIH/NIHSS, PALS (required or listed in job notes).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted; patient-ratio experience (1:4) required; previous charge nurse experience not specified.
- Education: RN degree as standard for licensure.
- Ability to work in an ED setting with mixed adult/pediatric populations and a separate psych area; comfortable with high-acuity, fast-paced care.
- Compliance and onboarding: complete pre-start modules via WorkRamp; labs within 48–72 hours of signing; comply with fit testing and other regulatory requirements; adhere to RTO and credentialing timelines.
- Local radius rule: No local candidates within 75 miles of the posting location.
