Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for Med Surg patients using the nursing process and established standards.
- Monitor patient conditions, perform assessments, document findings, and escalate concerns as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, monitor for adverse reactions, and manage IV therapy.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, to coordinate comprehensive patient care and discharge planning.
- Supervise and direct activities of various nursing staff levels; delegate tasks appropriately.
- Provide education to patients and families; support treatment teams with health information and teaching.
Requirements
- Licenses: Current RN license in the state of practice (California) is required.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an approved vendor per policy; BLS is required.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in Med Surg or an acute care setting.
- Education: BSN preferred.
- Clinical skills: Epic EMR experience is required; ability to float between Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
- General: Ability to work the listed shift and assignment terms in a hospital travel setting.
