Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care across the age spectrum on the Med Surg unit, coordinating with the health care team.
- Assess patient needs and collect ongoing data across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive domains; evaluate learning needs of patient and family.
- Develop and document a goal-directed plan of care, prioritize needs, and involve patient/family/designee in planning.
- Implement care safely and consistently; delegate tasks appropriately and support orientation and training of new staff and students.
- Document clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record; monitor outcomes and adjust the plan of care as needed.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about plan of care and discharge considerations; ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and unit policies.
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to work night shifts in a hospital setting (3x12 hours)
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and nursing documentation
- Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
- Vaccination requirements may apply per policy; ability to comply with applicable vaccination standards
