Responsibilities
- Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in the ER, including triage and rapid assessment.
- Monitor patient status, interpret vital signs, and administer medications and therapies as ordered; manage IV access as needed.
- Respond to emergencies and codes, support airway management, and assist with high-acuity interventions within scope.
- Perform procedures typical for ER nursing (including wound care, specimen collection, and other bedside tasks) and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic health record; ensure clear handoffs and communication.
- Support discharge planning, patient and family education, and referrals as appropriate to the clinical situation.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state-specific licensure required to practice in this setting)
- Minimum 4 years of well-rounded adult and pediatric ER experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; TNCC and ENPC preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity ER environment
- Flexibility to work night shifts and meet assignment start date and credentialing requirements
