Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to oncology patients in the assigned unit, including assessment, planning, and execution of individualized care.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies in accordance with physician orders and oncology protocols, with emphasis on safety and side-effect management.
- Monitor patient status, vital signs, and laboratory results; recognize and respond to adverse events and changes in condition.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary oncology team (physicians, pharmacists, social work, and support staff) to implement and adjust care plans.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, potential side effects, symptom management, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record and ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of California
- Oncology Nursing Certification (ONS) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of oncology experience
- Recent oncology unit experience within the last 3 months
- Ability to work day shift (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8 a.m.–5 p.m. as requested) in a travel assignment
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with eligible licensure to practice in California
