Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Stroke Stepdown) in Utica, NY. This is a travel, temporary assignment starting 06/01/2026 for 13 weeks with 36 guaranteed hours per week. Shift is Nights (2x3 schedule), 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m., on a 64-bed Med Surg Stroke Stepdown unit in a hospital setting. Weekly pay ranges from $2,131 to $2,324 per week. Local candidates within 75 miles may be eligible for the local rate.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on a Med Surg Stroke Stepdown unit, including stroke and related medical conditions
- Monitor and document patient status, perform neuro checks and NIHSS assessments as required, administer medications and IV therapies, and manage IV pumps and feeding tubes
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, participate in rounds, and update the plan of care in the EPIC electronic medical record
- Respond to changes in patient condition, implement safety and infection control practices, and assist with discharge planning and patient education
- Support floating within the unit as needed, maintain patient safety, accuracy in medication administration, and accurate documentation of I&O and clinical findings
Requirements
- Active New York RN license; NURSYS license verification required
- 2+ years of Med Surg experience with stroke stepdown specialization
- Travel experience required; documented travel history accepted
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification; NIHSS certification required or ability to obtain prior to start; NIHSS credentialing for this unit preferred
- Proficiency with the EPIC EMR system
- Driver’s license with address that matches demographics
- RTO requests must be included at time of submission
