Responsibilities
- Circulate in the operating room, preparing the room, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting the surgical team with draping and instrument handling
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, count sponges and instruments, and support anesthesia to ensure patient safety
- Manage equipment, supplies, and documentation for perioperative processes; communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and support staff
- Float to other OR areas as assigned to cover volume and ensure appropriate staffing; participate in rotating late coverage as needed
- Assist with turnover between cases, maintain situational awareness for patient positioning, IV access, and patient comfort
- Adhere to hospital perioperative policies, safety standards, and accurate record-keeping
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR nursing experience
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative environment and float to additional OR areas as needed
- Flexible schedule to meet holiday coverage requirements and on-call expectations
- Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
- Comfort working in an operating room/outpatient surgical setting and following strict sterile protocols
