Travel Registered Nurse First Assist Job
OR RN First Assist (RNFA) in San Luis Obispo, CA, starting 04/13/2026 for 13 weeks, with a weekly pay range of $2,628-$2,726. This is a travel, temporary assignment in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting. Schedule is 5x8 days with rotating start times; on-call coverage is required.

Responsibilities
- Provide RN First Assist intraoperative support for procedures, including primary spine, orthopedics, and robotic-assisted surgeries
- Assist the surgeon with exposure, tissue handling, hemostasis, retraction, and wound closure
- Maintain sterile technique and patient safety; collaborate with anesthesia and nursing staff
- Prepare the operating room, instrument trays, drapes, implants, and equipment; document intraoperative events
- Monitor patient status during procedures and assist with positioning and equipment management
- Participate in on-call coverage (minimum twice per week and every 3rd weekend)
Requirements
- Current California RN license required
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- ACLS and BLS certification required; PALS preferred; CNOR preferred
- Minimum 2 years RNFA experience; must have experience in primary spine, ortho, and robot surgeries
- Minimum 3 years OR experience in the unit specialty within the last 3 months
- One year previous full-time operating room experience required
- Availability for a 5x8 day schedule and on-call rotation
