Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg in a continuous care unit with an Ortho and North Surgical focus, Herrin, IL. Start date 04/20/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment. Weekly pay range $1,583.00 to $1,650.00 with guaranteed 36 hours per week. Night shift (7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.). This travel opportunity is in a hospital setting and requires the ability to float to clinically appropriate Med-Surg units as needed.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients on the Ortho and North Surgical unit
- Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and document outcomes accurately
- Conduct focused assessments, document changes in condition, and communicate with the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to develop and adjust patient care plans
- Monitor for clinical changes, respond to alarms, and escalate concerns per hospital protocols
- Support admissions, discharges, and transfers; assist with post-operative care and patient education
- Float to clinically appropriate Med-Surg units within scope of practice and licensure when required
Requirements
- Active nursing license (registered nurse) in Illinois
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIHSS required; ACLS may be required depending on unit and hospital-specific requirements
- Ability to work the night shift and meet the guaranteed hours of the assignment
- Willingness to float to other Med-Surg departments as needed within scope of practice and demonstrated competencies
- Weekend involvement: every other weekend and potential call requirements as part of the assignment
- Prior Med-Surg nursing experience is preferred to support rapid adaptation to the Ortho and North Surgical unit
