Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for Emergency Department patients across the age spectrum, including triage, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Interpret and act on vital signs, monitor ECG and lead function, and respond to life-threatening conditions (Code Blue, Code Stroke, sepsis, trauma activations) per protocol.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies, including blood products, and provide patient and family teaching on medication effects and discharge instructions.
- Complete orders accurately and in a timely manner; document legibly and maintain clear communication with the ED team and on-call physicians.
- Recognize and respond to deteriorating conditions; perform assessment, stabilization, and appropriate escalation as needed.
- Maintain competency in standard ED nursing skills and equipment use; adhere to chain of command and professional practice guidelines.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California)
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Certification: Current BLS; ACLS; PALS; TNCC (TNCC required within 6 months of hire or transfer); NIHSS certification or equivalent training
- Experience: One year in acute care required; at least two years of recent RN experience in the field preferred
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment and work 7:00 PM–7:30 AM shift with the stated schedule
