Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in ICU settings, supporting MICU, SICU, respiratory care, and surgical progressive care units as needed.
- Monitor and interpret physiologic parameters, including hemodynamics and ventilator management, and implement timely interventions under physician directions.
- Administer medications and therapies per policy, manage lines and tubes, and perform routine ICU procedures with accuracy and safety.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust individualized care plans; communicate with patients and families regarding care goals and progress.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes; ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, effective communication, and organizational skills; adapt to unit needs and patient acuity while floating between ICU units.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse with an active New York RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- ICU acute care experience, minimum 2 years
- Ability to work rotating D/E/N shifts with every-other-weekend schedule; on-call/callback as required; able to respond to unit needs for floating assignments
- Demonstrated critical thinking, strong communication, and organizational skills; capacity to stay current in critical care knowledge
- Must be able to work in an ICU float role across MICU/SICU/Respiratory Care and Surgical Progressive Care units
