Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care for patients on a tele step-down high-acuity unit (PCU), with focus on post-ICU care, drips, and stable ventilation support as described.
- Perform Cerner charting and maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver evidence-based care and ensure patient safety in a fast-paced environment.
- Be prepared to float to Tele/M/S units as needed to support patient census and unit needs.
- Adhere to unit staffing ratios and optimize patient flow: IMCU 3-4:1; Tele-M/S with PCT assistance 5-6:1.
- Recognize crises, respond promptly, and escalate appropriately per unit protocols.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity tele-step-down environment.
- Cerner charting experience or strong familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Willingness and ability to float to Tele-M/S units as needed.
- Strong clinical judgment, initiative, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic setting.
- Comfortable with unit-specific ratios and fluid assignment practices.
- Availability for a 12-hour shift schedule (3 days per week).
