Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health (Psychiatric, Adolescent - Inpatient) in Amsterdam, NY. This travel assignment is a 13-week temporary role starting 07/20/2026, with a weekly pay range of $1,394 to $1,451 and no guaranteed hours. Shift pattern is 3x12-hour days, 07:00–19:30, in a short-term acute care setting providing inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents. This is an urgent backfill; candidates with the required experience and readiness to start promptly are preferred. Note: prior staff members are not typically considered for this traveler assignment. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 5 shifts at no cost during the 13-week duration.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct psychiatric nursing care for adolescent inpatients, including assessments, crisis monitoring, and safety planning
- Administer and monitor psychotropic medications; observe for therapeutic and adverse effects
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- De-escalate behavioral crises using CPI-based techniques; maintain a calm and safe unit environment
- Document patient status, interventions, and progress in the electronic health record; communicate changes to the team and to families as appropriate
- Participate in rounds and care coordination meetings; coordinate with physicians, social workers, therapists, and case managers to support patient goals
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- Minimum 5 years of psychiatric nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience
- Ability to work in an inpatient adolescent psychiatric setting and to cover 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)
