Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for a designated group of patients during the shift, using the nursing process aligned with the medical plan of care and patient input.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status in the post-anesthesia recovery period; respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Collaborate with physicians and the health care team; coordinate delivery of care for patients of various ages as assigned by unit.
- Incorporate teaching and discharge planning into the plan of care; prepare patients and families for safe transition from recovery.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to other nursing staff based on current clinical competence and legal scope of practice.
- Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to patient safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Ability to work in a PACU/post-anesthesia recovery environment
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate care and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to work daytime shifts and meet unit needs
