Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the emergency department, including rapid assessment and triage of patients with acute conditions.
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, start IVs, and assist with emergent procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team; document care and patient responses in the electronic health record.
- Prioritize patient safety, maintain infection control standards, and communicate effectively with patients and families during high-stress situations.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic testing and treatment, including coordination of imaging and procedures as indicated.
- Demonstrate adaptability to a fast-paced emergency setting and respond to changes in patient condition with critical thinking and decisive action.
Requirements
- Active registered nurse (RN) license; state may be required for practice
- Ability to work weekend day shifts with 12-hour coverage (5:00 AM–5:00 PM)
- ER nursing experience or demonstrated competency in acute care settings
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety, accuracy in documentation, and teamwork in a high-acuity environment
- Willingness to complete credentialing and standard background checks as part of the assignment process
