Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the Observation Unit per RN standards, including monitoring clinical status and responding to changes.
- Assess vital signs, administer medications and treatments per physician orders, and manage IVs and basic wound care as appropriate.
- Monitor patient safety, comfort, nutrition, and activity, while coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team.
- Document patient findings accurately in the electronic health record; communicate effectively with physicians, peers, and families.
- Support discharge planning and patient education to ensure appropriate transitions of care.
- Maintain infection control practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the assignment state (Kansas) or eligibility to obtain licensure for this assignment
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) or equivalent
- Ability to work night shifts (7:00 pm – 7:00 am) and meet unit coverage needs
- Eligibility to work in the United States and to complete standard credentialing and background checks
- Experience in an acute care or observation unit setting is preferred
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current ability to practice as a registered nurse in the stated location
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer skills
