Responsibilities
- Perform CT imaging procedures, including contrast-enhanced protocols and CT fluoroscopy as needed, following established patient care and safety guidelines.
- Prepare patients, verify orders, assess for contraindications to contrast, obtain appropriate consent, and closely monitor patients during CT exams.
- Administer IV contrast and manage potential adverse reactions; maintain IV access and venipuncture readiness; ensure safe contrast administration per protocol.
- Operate and adjust multi-slice CT equipment to optimize image quality while applying radiation safety principles (ALARA) and maintaining patient and staff safety.
- Position patients accurately, review images for technical quality, communicate findings with radiologists, and document procedure details in the radiology information system.
- Collaborate with the radiology team and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and on-call coverage as required.
Requirements
- Current California Radiologic Technologist (RT) license (CA RT) and by-state practice in CA.
- ARRT certification in Radiography with CT modality (R)(CT) or RT (R) (ARRT) – both configurations accepted.
- Advanced Certification in CT is required for certain regions (as noted by assignment) and is a consideration for OR and HI; CA assignments are preferred for this candidate profile.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS).
- Fluoroscopy license in state of employment preferred (CA and OR).
- Venipuncture certification preferred (CA and OR).
- Minimum of 2 years’ CT experience in the submitted unit specialty within the last 3 months.
- Associate degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.
- Ability to work in a high-volume CT setting with on-call requirements as part of shift pattern.
