Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg | Travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start date: 04/27/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,795–$1,913 per week. Shift: Nights. Setting: hospital Medical–Surgical unit. This is a travel, temporary assignment with scheduled 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation; hours and shift lengths may vary and are not guaranteed. Hawaii RN license must be active by start date. Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved medical/religious exception is required prior to contract start. Orientation is provided for each unit, and onboarding requires arrival the Thursday before the start date to attend an employee health appointment on Friday.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adults on the Medical–Surgical unit, including assessment, plan of care, medications, and routine procedures
- Monitor patients’ conditions, respond to changes, document findings, and communicate with the care team
- Perform unit-specific tasks and procedures such as wound care and chest tube management; operate wound vac devices as ordered
- Utilize Meditech EMR for documentation, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and other on-unit equipment as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in patient rounds and handoffs
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional nursing environment and adhere to dress code and policy guidelines
Requirements
- Active Hawaii RN license by start date
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- 2–10 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
- Ability to work nights and participate in a travel assignment; flexibility for variable shifts and days
- Willingness to float to Laulima Unit and Cardiovascular Unit as needed
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption required prior to contract start
- Professional nursing attire and adherence to unit orientation and protocol
