Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adults in a Neuro/Med Surg unit, including comprehensive nursing assessments, neuro checks, vital signs, and monitoring for changes in status.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders; manage IV therapies and wound care; ensure safety and proper documentation.
- Monitor neuro status, respond to changes, and escalate promptly to the medical team; collaborate with neurology and other specialists as indicated.
- Partner with physicians, case managers, and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans; document care extensively in the electronic health record; participate in rounds and handoffs.
- Support discharge planning and patient/family education; coordinate referrals and transfers as needed; ensure safe transitions of care.
- Uphold infection control, safety protocols, and quality standards; participate in unit activities and on-call coverage as required.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia (or current eligibility for licensure in the applicable state)
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg or Neuro/acute care environments
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and fulfill holiday requirements
- Neuro unit or acute neuro care experience strongly preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; proficient documentation in the electronic health record
