Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive obstetric and neonatal care from labor admission through postpartum and newborn care up to 28 days of life
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, perform fetal monitoring per protocol, assist with deliveries and neonatal stabilization as needed
- Administer medications, support lactation education, and provide family-centered newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatal teams, and other disciplines; document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EPIC)
- Respond to obstetric or neonatal emergencies, participate in codes, and uphold patient safety and HIPAA requirements
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of California
- Current BLS certification; ACLS and STABLE certification required within six months of employment; recertified every two years
- NRP certification and hospital-conscious sedation certification required within six months; recertified every two years
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification required within six months; recertified every two years
- EPIC experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in labor and delivery/postpartum; strong newborn stabilization skills
- Night shift experience (6:00 PM–6:30 AM) and labor and delivery experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, small-community hospital environment
