Travel Registered Nurse Observation Unit Job
Registered Nurse – Observation Unit (Travel) available in Rochester, New York. Start date 07/20/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range $2,066–$2,136. Shift is 12-hour rotations. Assigned to a hospital setting with 24/7 provider coverage to care for adults in observation as they determine whether admission is needed or safe discharge home. The unit handles high patient turnover (approximately 20–27 patients per day) with an average length of stay around 27 hours.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct RN care for adult patients in the Observation Unit to determine need for admission or safe discharge home
- Monitor patient status, including telemetry, respond to alarms, and escalate as appropriate
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies; manage IV therapies and infusions per order
- Collaborate with 24/7 provider coverage; document assessments, plans of care, and discharge planning
- Ensure patient safety, administer fall precautions, and coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the charting system; deliver patient and family education at discharge when applicable
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- Telemetry experience required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
- NIHSS preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Observation Unit and participate in rotating shift schedules; on-call may be required
