Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for surgical post-operative PCU patients, including monitoring, assessments, IV therapy, medication administration, wound care, and patient/family education.
- Manage hemodynamic status, identify changes, perform routine and critical nursing tasks, and escalate concerns to the appropriate clinician.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders, ensure accurate documentation in the EMR, and maintain compliance with hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (physicians, case management, ancillary staff) to coordinate care and ensure safe patient flow and throughput.
- Maintain patient-to-nurse ratios of approximately 4:1 to 5:1; participate in unit floating as required by the assignment and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives.
- Adhere to BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS requirements; follow Epic EMR workflows; uphold infection prevention and patient safety standards.
Requirements
- Active Florida RN license
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience; ability to float to other units as needed
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Education: degree accreditation must be on profile or candidate must have 5+ years of acute care experience
