Responsibilities
- Carry out physical therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to address residents’ mobility, strength, and balance
- Deliver direct therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and balance activities
- Observe resident responses to interventions and report progress or changes to the supervising PT
- Assist with resident assessments and contribute to documentation and care planning as appropriate
- Educate residents and caregivers on exercises and techniques to promote safety and carryover outside sessions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure proper use of therapy equipment and assistive devices
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support coordinated resident care
- Adhere to state, federal, and facility regulations and professional standards of practice
- Uphold licensure and continuing education requirements
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current PTA license in the state of practice (Massachusetts)
- Prior experience in SNF or geriatric settings preferred
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a rehabilitation team under the supervision of a licensed PT
