Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care to adult patients recovering from ICU-level care on a high-acuity step-down unit.
- Monitor and manage ventilated/trach patients, vasoactive drips, arterial lines, chest tubes, and arrhythmias; troubleshoot ventilator alarms with RT support as needed.
- Titrate vasopressors, sedatives, and insulin drips; interpret ABGs; maintain telemetry monitoring and hemodynamic stability.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, PT, Pharmacy, Rapid Response, Social Work) and participate in rounds; coordinate care with Unit Secretary.
- Document accurately in EPIC, including patient status, medications, procedures, and responses; ensure patient safety and compliance with care plans.
- Respond to clinical changes, escalate per protocol, and assist with discharge planning and transitions within the unit.

Requirements
- Licensure: Active RN license to practice in Missouri or eligibility per state rules; pending license accepted per compliance guidelines.
- Certifications: ACLS, BCLS (BLS), NIHSS; must meet facility compliance deadlines.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; must have been at bedside within the last 6 months; travel experience required; trauma Level II experience required; previous charge experience preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in telemetry, central/PICC/peripheral line care, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition; able to troubleshoot ventilator/alarms and manage complex support devices.
- Education: RN degree from an approved nursing program; ability to work in a high-acuity step-down unit and float to lower-acuity floors as needed.
- Additional: EPIC charting proficiency; willingness to comply with unit policies and on-unit safety standards.
