Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for adult PCU patients, including monitoring and ensuring patient safety during progressive care transitions.
- Administer medications and therapies aligned with orders; monitor responses and adjust as directed; manage CRRT and BiPAP when indicated.
- Support patients with complex care needs (labs drawn by the nurse, chest tubes, PICC lines) and assist with post-operative open-heart cases; respond to codes and participate in code management when needed.
- Perform thorough assessments, document findings in EPIC, and communicate changes to the care team; participate in patient handoffs and multidisciplinary rounds.
- Float to ICU and other inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED) as required, applying critical care skills in diverse settings.
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and support staff to plan discharges and coordinate ongoing care.
Requirements
- Active KS RN license or Compact RN license; BLS, ACLS, and NIHF certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit experience
- Experience with CRRT, BiPAP, drawing own labs, chest tubes, and PICC lines
- Comfortable with open-heart day-1 patients and pacer wires
- Floating to ICU and all inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, ED) required
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: None
