Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations using appropriate protocols and equipment, producing high-quality images for interpretation.
- Prepare patients for imaging, explain procedures, position patients, apply coupling gel, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the exam.
- Optimize imaging parameters and select the correct transducers to capture clinically relevant views; document findings accurately for interpretation.
- Collaborate with radiologists or physicians during real-time imaging as needed and adapt imaging approaches based on clinical indications.
- Maintain accurate patient records and properly label and store images within the electronic health record system; ensure documentation supports timely interpretation.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance standards; clean, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment as required.

Requirements
- Licensure and certification: Active credentials permitting ultrasound practice as required by state and facility.
- Certification expectations: Certification in diagnostic medical sonography or eligibility for credentialing as determined by the employer.
- Education: Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent educational pathway.
- Experience: Ultrasound experience appropriate to the assignment; prior travel or hospital-based experience is a plus.
- Skills: Strong patient communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to a rotating night schedule and new work environments.
