Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for critically ill neuro patients, including those with traumatic brain injury, aneurysm, status epilepticus, stroke, and other neurologic pathologies.
- Perform focused neuro assessments, monitor neurologic status, and participate in ongoing care planning with the multidisciplinary team; utilize NIHSS as indicated.
- Manage telemetry monitoring, vital signs, and hemodynamic stability; administer medications and titrate infusions per protocol; respond to emergent changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, nursing colleagues, and support services; participate in rounds and coordinate care plans and discharge planning.
- Ensure patient safety and quality of care through adherence to infection control, privacy standards, documentation, and regulatory requirements; provide patient and family education as needed.
- Participate in D/E/N rotation, holidays, on-call, callback, and unit charge responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- active New York RN license (NY License ONLY)
- minimum 2 years RN ICU acute care experience
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS certification
- Telemetry monitoring experience
- ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in D/E/N rotation, holidays/on-call as required
