Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start date: 06/08/2026 for a 13-week assignment. Night shift in a hospital medical-surgical setting. Weekly pay range: $1,805–$1,928 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0.0. Following the first full week of orientation, scheduled hours are 36 per week. May float to other units as needed. Hawaii RN license must be active by start date. Proof of flu vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption is required prior to contract start. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Experience requirements include 2–10 years in medical-surgical nursing. The unit utilizes Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes as part of patient care.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical patients, including ongoing assessment, care planning, and patient safety monitoring.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and monitor for adverse effects; document responses and changes in patient condition.
- Perform focused assessments, respond to clinical changes, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team; document in the Meditech EMR.
- Manage treatment devices and procedures as appropriate (e.g., wound care devices, chest tubes) and ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning; collaborate with case management to support smooth transitions of care.
- May float to other units as needed; adapt to variation in shift lengths and unit expectations.
Requirements
- Hawaii RN license, active and in good standing, by start date
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- 2–10 years of Med Surg RN experience
- Ability to work nights and accommodate varying shift lengths
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption required before start
- Ability to work in a hospital medical-surgical setting and to float to other units as needed
