Responsibilities
- Process a variety of laboratory specimens, including preparation of tissue for pathological testing, gross examination, and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens; perform postmortem examinations as needed.
- Conduct gross examinations and dictations on specimens from surgical and non-surgical cases; assist with autopsy support as required.
- Support histology and cytology workflows, including preparation of tissue and cytology specimens for diagnostic review by pathologists.
- Assist the pathologist with autopsy procedures and provide reports on deceased cases; monitor daily logs and pathology department charges.
- Perform quality improvement and assurance activities to meet CLIA guidelines; maintain an orderly, clean work environment and proper tissue waste disposal.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff across sections (histology, cytology, surgical pathology) to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.

Requirements
- Active nursing license per the state of assignment (California or as required)
- At least two years of recent experience in the field
- Current BLS certification
- Education: High School/GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree or equivalent preferred
- Certifications: ASCP certification or equivalent preferred
- Ability to work in a hospital pathology department environment; ability to work 7:00 AM–7:00 PM shifts
- Vaccinations as required by employer policy; exemptions may apply
- Compliance with E-Verify participation as part of employment eligibility
